The Black Student Union served as one of my homes on this campus. As someone who is a transfer student, and not a Mississippi native, a lot of fundamental aspects of our campus’ cultural were shocking. The Black Student Union’s main goal is to provide safe spaces for its members while facilitating inclusion and engagement. It did no different for me and it is an honor to be able to serve it.
I firmly believe in the power of organization. I think it is the vehicle for a cohesive union that can do incredible things. The Black Student Union owes it to our campus and its members to operate that highest capacity and I hope my role allows us to do so.
